Musculoskeletal system

The musculoskeletal system encompasses all moving structures in the human body. The active structures, the muscular and nervous systems, perform the movements of all the passive structures (i.e. bones, ligaments, joint capsules). Here, a movement refers to a complex collaboration between those active and passive structures.

Disorders of the musculoskeletal system always refer to both of the two structures and the ways they interact with each other. The underlying cause of such disorders is the missing or defective ability to perform a normal physiological movement.
